A little about me: I received my master degree from K.N.T University of Technology in my home country, Iran. My major was Civil Engineering, Hydraulics field. Captivated by the intricate world of Fluid Mechanics, I have been trying to gain a better understanding of its vast implications. Computational Fluid Dynamics is one of the the invaluable tools for this purpose and I have been studying this field over the past few years.
For my master’s thesis I developed a code in FORTRAN for numerical simulation of non-linear surface waves in water. Other than FORTRAN, I started to learn C++, Python, MATLAB, OpenFOAM, Paraview and Techplot which are mainly used in CFD research. Afterwards, I was offered a position in a consulting engineering company and at the same time, started teaching as a part time instructor in Tehran branch of Azad University, as well. Teaching began to grow on me and after two years, I decided to leave the industry and become a full time instructor. So I accepted an offer from Khazar University in Baku, Azerbaijan. I taught courses such as Fluid Mechanics and Engineering Mechanics at KU. After three years of teaching at the KU, I decided to pursue my studies at the PhD level. I contacted Dr. Leon and we started a project related to numerical simulation of geyser events using OpenFOAM and have been working on it since. Currently, I am a PhD student at UH under supervision of Dr. Leon and will be exploring applications of CFD with the help of experimental methods and UH’s supercomputers.
