The ALLSTAR Network team is composed of three complementary organizations. Florida International University (FIU), which is a large minority institution; Prime Technologies, a small, minority-owned business; and NASA LaRC, a major NASA Aeronautics Center. This team includes the active participation of Miami Dade Community College (MDCC) and the Dade County Public School (DCPS) system. The DCPS system is one of the largest in the country with among the largest and ethnically diverse student populations of any school system. The ALLSTAR Network has been established as a major institutional program within the College of Engineering. The program is under the leadership of Dr. Cesar Levy, who serves as the FIU Program Director. As a tenured member of the faculty at FIU, Dr. Levy has outstanding academic, research and teaching credentials. He has been an active participant in various student outreach programs at FIU, as well as responsible for development of innovative approaches for engineering instruction, such as electronic notebooks. The FIU Team also has as an integral part of its overall management team, senior individuals from the private sector, NASA, and FIU. They consist of Mr. Sal Majied, President of Prime Technologies; Dr. Samuel Massenberg, Director, Education Programs, NASA LaRC; Dr. Isiah Blankson, Deputy Director, Hypersonic Research, NASA Headquarters; and Dr. Gordon R Hopkins, Dean, College of Engineering and Design, FIU, respectively. Mr. Majied has over 17 years of technical professional and management experience, which includes numerous information systems and related communication system efforts and will work very closely with Dr. Levy.
A key aspect of the management approach includes the active participation of a Senior Advisory Group (SAG), which includes Dr. Massenberg (Chair), Dr. Blankson, and Dr. Hopkins. The SAG will continue to review the on-going activities of the network, as well as ALLSTAR applications and ensure compliance with overall program objectives and review of performance based upon established metrics.
