The following table of links provide a wide variety of subjects to assist you with learning about the many opportunities that you may pursue in education and/or a career:
If you are interested in obtaining a job in the aerospace world, you must
learn about the demands of the various aerospace careers. You must establish in your own
mind the basic education needed in order to qualify for one of these jobs. Students
wanting to find a place in the vanguard of aerospace travel and exploration must have
something to sell creativity, management potential, or a combination of all three.
Part of the key to career success is for you to start laying the foundation for skilled
career jobs in high school and enhancing prospects for higher-paying positions by
continuing to build upon that foundation in college. The aerospace world is big. The sky
is no longer the limit!
There are about five general approaches you might select once the decision is made to join
the aerospace team:
1. Take courses in high school that will prepare you to work in the aerospace industry, such as mathematics and science. Then, you must attempt to get a job in this industry, just to crack the ice. Once in, immediately seek on-the-job training.
2. Apply for a job with a government agency or private industry that offers a liberal on-the-job training program and other educational benefits.
3. Enlist in any of the armed forces.
4. Enter college and get the best degree possible.
5. Try a combination of the above. For instance, in the Air Force it is
possible to earn credits toward a college degree while earning and learning. After you
leave the service, you can enter college to complete your degree. Upon graduation, your
degree plus the Air Force experience will most likely place you in a very good
salary-bargaining position.
This module will address basic career goals such as educational awareness, a plan for
skill development and preparation, career awareness, self-awareness, and career planning
and decision making.
