FIU VLSI Laboratory Photo Gallery:

     Mr. Ian Burgess, Director and Manager of Higher Education Program from  Mentor Graphics Corporation has visited Florida International University (FIU) on 30th and 31st of January 2005, in connection with the collaboration between  FIU  and Mentor Graphics in the development of VLSI activity at FIU.  FIU has recognized the contribution of Mentor through their Torch Society (honoring donors of Million Dollars or more). Students, faculty, and administrators from FIU welcomed visit of Mr. Burgess
    

 

       Grants awarded to VLSI Lab at FIU:

• A $1.4 Million Software grant from Mentor Graphics Corporation, one of the industry leaders in the areas of Systems on Chip (SoC), Hardware Description Language based Digital Design Platforms)

• A $50,000 hardware grant from the College of Engineering.

     This lab will be used to train undergraduate and graduate students in academics and research in the areas of Micro Chip and Embedded Intelligent Systems Designs and related fields. The ECE department will develop a VLSI program track consisting of a series of undergraduate and graduate courses, and serve the industry and other academic and research institutions from USA, Latin American and Caribbean, and around the globe.
