Project Description
Goal
To create a mobile platform that responds to its surroundings based upon the responses received by its sensors.
Objectives
The main objective for this project is to design a platform that can move in any direction without changing orientation and vice versa.
The platform will have a feel for its surroundings by the use of its various sensors.
The platform will be able to have one of its components fail and continue to function optimally.
Form and Function
The overall shape of the mobile platform will be based upon a rectangular structure.
It will contain 12 sensors, 8 of which will be infrared sensors and the other 4 will be ultrasonic sensors.
The wheels are Omni directional; in other words, the wheels have the ability to move in any direction.
Mentorship
Project team will meet at least twice a week.
Mentors will instruct and teach the students about computer aided design, programming in various languages, and manufacturing techniques.
Mentors will discuss their personal experiences in hopes of enlightening their students.
As a team, we hope to communicate ideas and information between each other, learn from each other, and gain experience in doing this project. As a mentor, my goal is to pass as much of my knowledge to them as possible, in hopes that they will learn from this project and continue on this educational path.
