Debrupa Lahiri

Debrupa has joined the PFL group, as a PhD student in Fall 2007. She has completed her B.E in Metallurgical Engineering from Bengal Engineering College, West Bengal, India in 1998 and M. Tech in Materials & Metallurgical Engineering from IIT Kanpur, India in 2000. Immediately after completing M.Tech., she worked for Indian Aluminium Company, India as Metallurgist, R&D for almost 2 years. From July, 2001 onwards she was associated with Nuclear Fuel Complex (NFC), Dept. of Atomic Energy, Hyderabad, India, first, as a ‘Visiting Scientist’ and then, as ‘Scientific Officer D’, till July, 2007. She has experience in the fields of X-ray diffraction, residual stress measurement, dilatometry and SEM of materials related to nuclear industry.  She has 8 publications in peer reviewed journals from her past research works. Her current research interests nanocomposites, bioceramics for orthopedic implants and nano-mechanics.

Research Topics:

  • Bioceramic based composites for orthopedic implants – mechanical properties and biocompatibility.
  • Metal/ceramic/polymer Matrix nanotube composites.
  • Mechanical properties of materials at nanoscale using nano-indentation techniques.
