Education and Outreach

One of the major outreach activities that the  WaterSCAPES University Research Center  holds every year is the South Florida Regional Science Bowl!

We partnered with the U.S. Department of Energy, the Southeast Environmental Research Center at FIU and the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers in order to stimulate and foster the teaching and learning of STEM (Science Technology Engineering and Math) disciplines.

This year’s South Florida Regional Science Bowl hosted a total of 23 teams from 14 different schools!  Congratulations again to American Heritage School of Pembroke Pines for a well deserved win!

They will soon be on their way to Washington DC to participate in the DOE National Science Bowl.  To be held from April 28 - May 3, 2011.

Below are some pictures and comments from the event.  Enjoy!
