Wormformer Robot

Project Description

Goal

To create a modular worm robot that can take different shapes for different applications.

Objectives

The main objective for this project is to design a worm robot to crawl and walk.

The robot will be able to transform from a crawler to a walker without human assistance.

The robot will be controlled by communication with a computer using Bluetooth.

Form and Function

The overall shape of the robot will be like two worms tied together at the center.

It will contain 10 digital servos, connected by links. and a microcontroller in the middle

The microcontroller is a PIC16f877A by Microchip which will communicate serially with our computer using Bluetooth.

Mentorship

Project team will meet at least twice a week.

Mentors will instruct and teach the students about computer aided design, programming in various languages, and manufacturing techniques.

Mentors will discuss their personal experiences in hopes of enlightening their students.

As a team, we hope to communicate ideas and information between each other, learn from each other, and gain experience in doing this project.  As a mentor, my goal is to pass as much of my knowledge to them as possible, in hopes that they will learn from this project and continue on this educational path
