Error Characterization of RTP/IP Streams over DSL for IPTV
In this project, we characterized the RTP/IP traffic over DSL networks. The primary focus of this project was to develop techniques to analyze captured RTP traffic at the network layer and generate statistics characterizing the streams. Specifically, we analyzed the loss, the jitter, and the throughput in real IPTV/RTP streams. We developed several customized tools including: (1) A packet generator that models specified error conditions to test the server; (2) A customized RTP packet parser that generates several useful statistics.
