Biography
- Dr. Bitsuamlak has a background in structural engineering with a focus on wind engineering. At present he is active in Wall of Wind (WoW) full scale experimental hurricane research as well as CFD based computational research.
- Dr. Bitsuamlak has worked with RWDI for 3 years, executing more than 100 wind induced structural responses and cladding wind load studies for tall buildings and large span roofs in the boundary layer wind tunnel near Toronto, Canada. His notable projects include Freedom Tower, Burj Dubai (Dubai), Yankee Stadium, Kowloon Union Square (Hong Kong), Moscow City Site Tower (Moscow), 3344 Peach Tree Tower (Atlanta), Villa Magna Towers (Miami), and China Steel Head Quarter (Taiwan).
- Dr. Bitsuamlak received his PhD from Concordia University in Montreal in 2004, ME from the IIT Roorkee, India in 1998 and BSc degree from the Addis Ababa University, Ethiopia in 1991.
- Dr. Bitsuamlak has more than 10 years of professional engineering experience and registered licenses in the Ontario, Canada and in Eritrea. He is a member of the American Association for Wind Engineering (AAWE), Canadian Society of Civil Engineers (CSCE), and the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE).
- Dr Bitsuamlak teaches wide spectrum of undergraduate courses in Civil Engineering and graduate courses in Wind/Structural Engineering.
