Dr. Choi has been
awarded the prestigious Materials Research Society (MRS) Medal for 2006
“for important developments in the materials science and
applications of carbon nanotubes”. MRS is the leading organization
of materials scientists and engineers in the world. The Medal recognizes
a specific outstanding recent discovery or advancement which is expected
to have a major impact on the progress of a materials related field. Dr.
Choi shares the Medal with Professor Pulickel Ajayan from
Rensselear Polytechnic Institute and Mark E. Thompson from University of Southern
California The award will be presented during the MRS
fall meeting in Boston,
Massachusetts this
November.

position
The Nanomaterials and Device Fabrication Laboratory at Florida International
University, Miami invites applications for a
postdoctoral research position in nano-biosensor and bio nano
electronics. The candidate should also have expertise in electrochemical
and electronic biosensor fabrication and development especially for DNA,
nitric oxide detection. A strong background in biochemistry and/or
semiconductor physics and devices is preferred. The candidate should also
possess excellent oral and written communication skills in English. Other
duties include proposal writing and providing guidance to graduate
students. Applications consisting of curriculum vitae, publication list,
and a brief description of research interests can be submitted for full

position
The Nanomaterials and Device Fabrication Laboratory at
Florida
International
University,
Miami invites applications for a
postdoctoral research position in vacuum microelectronics with emphasis
on field-emission cathode development for microwave power-amplifier tubes
/ nano electronics device fabrication and characterization. The successful
applicant will work with Dr. Won Bong Choi on developing compact and
efficient cathodes for microwave power-amplifier tubes and other high
high-power electronics applications. The position is for one year and
renewable and offers competitive salary and benefits. Applicants should
have a Ph.D. in material science/engineering, electrical engineering or
physics. Previous experience in simulation is desirable. Applications
