Our work on "Direct Electrical Measurements on Single-Molecule Genomic DNA using Single-Walled Carbon Nanotubes" has been reported in the Analytical Currents section of American Chemical Society, Journal of Analytical Chemistry, a peer-reviewed research journal that explores the latest concepts in analytical measurements and the best new ways to increase accuracy, selectivity, sensitivity, and reproducibility, "Nanotube electrodes measure DNA conductivity"

 

January 29, 2008 "Vertically aligned carbon nanotube probes for monitoring blood cholesterol", Somenath Roy, Harindra Vedala and Wonbong Choi, published in 2006 in the journal of Nanotechnology (Vol 17, ppS14) was among the most highly downloaded articles in 2007. It has been downloaded 1416 times to-date

 

January 2, 2008 Our recent publication in Nanoletters journal titled Direct Electrical Measurements on Single-Molecule Genomic DNA Using Single-Walled Carbon Nanotubes was  reported in online Nanotechnology News portals such as Spotlight section Nanowerk and NewScientistTech.

 

August 21, 2006 Dr. Choi has been awarded the prestigious Materials Research Society (MRS) Medal for 2006 “for important developments in the materials science and applications of carbon nanotubes”. MRS is the leading organization of materials scientists and engineers in the world. The Medal recognizes a specific outstanding recent discovery or advancement which is expected to have a major impact on the progress of a materials related field. Dr. Choi shares the Medal  with Professor Pulickel Ajayan from Rensselear Polytechnic Institute and Mark E. Thompson from University of Southern California The award will be presented during the MRS fall meeting in Boston, Massachusetts this November.

 

August 03, 2006 The 2007 TMS Annual Meeting & Exhibition will take place in Orlando, Florida, USA, from 02/25/2007 to 03/01/2007. The nanomaterials symposium will be organized by Dr. Won Bong Choi. (Nano Symposium)

Post doctoral research position The Nanomaterials and Device Fabrication Laboratory at Florida International University, Miami invites applications for a postdoctoral research position in nano-biosensor and bio nano electronics. The candidate should also have expertise in electrochemical and electronic biosensor fabrication and development especially for DNA, nitric oxide detection. A strong background in biochemistry and/or semiconductor physics and devices is preferred. The candidate should also possess excellent oral and written communication skills in English. Other duties include proposal writing and providing guidance to graduate students. Post doctoral research position The Nanomaterials and Device Fabrication Laboratory at Florida International University, Miami invites applications for a postdoctoral research position in vacuum microelectronics with emphasis on field-emission cathode development for microwave power-amplifier tubes / nano electronics device fabrication and characterization. The successful applicant will work with Dr. Won Bong Choi on developing compact and efficient cathodes for microwave power-amplifier tubes and other high high-power electronics applications. The position is for one year and renewable and offers competitive salary and benefits. Applicants should have a Ph.D. in material science/engineering, electrical engineering or physics. Previous experience in simulation is desirable.
