How can I check the status of my admission?
You
can check the status of your Admission online. CLICK
HERE
I checked the status of my admission, and it said
I am missing my test scores, but I already requested
ETS to send them to the University.
Even
though you may have requested ETS to send us your
scores, sometimes there is a delay for issuance. We
recommend that you scan or fax us a copy of your scores
here at the Department so that we can make a provisional
decision while we wait for the official scores to
arrive.
Our Fax Number: (305) 348-1932
Alternatively, Email it to us at agarwala@fiu.edu
(Please note, you will not be given a regular admission
until the official documents have been received)
My status says that I need to submit my final transcripts,
and degree, but I will not finish my degree for another
month.
Ask
your university to send us a letter of completion,
this should list on it your expected graduation date
and degree. If you are admitted, you will have one
semester in which to provide FIU with the official,
final transcripts from your university.
How
do I get Financial Aid to study?
-
If
you are a US Citizen or Resident Alien (Green
Card Holder) you can apply for Financial Aid.
Here
is a helpful link.
-
If
you are an International Student, you
cannot apply for Federal Financial Aid.
However, there are some options open to you.
-
Funding
is available as TA/RA/Presidential Fellowships:
- Teaching
Assistant (TA)*
is the departmental position. We make a
decision to award these students after going
through the pool of applicants. But we strongly
recommend that you send your applications
AS EARLY AS POSSIBLE before April 1 (Fall)
and September 1 (Spring) deadlines. (True
for both Domestic and International Students)
- Research
Assistant (RA)*
position is awarded by a professor from
his/her research grant. You may want to
contact individual professors if you are
interested in RA position. RA position can
be awarded at any time of the year. Though
admissions are usually made for Fall/Spring
semesters and rarely in Summer semesters.
The contact information for MME faculty
is listed on our website.
-
Presidential Fellowships are most
competitive and often awarded to highest
GRE and GPA combination students who have
an excellent academic record. These awards
are for those candidates who have applied
for FALL admissions. Those seeking admission
in Spring/Summer are not eligible. The deadline
for Presidential Fellowship Applicants (with
all supporting documents) is January 15.
(True for
both Domestic and International Students
* We
have a VERY limited number of
Departmental Research and Teaching Assistantships
Available. These are assigned to outstanding
students in the fields of Mechanical and Materials
Engineering. Your eligibility for such awards would
depend on your GRE/GPA in comparison with the applicant
pool, and the number of awards available for any given
semester. Please note, we cannot guarantee a financial
award over email. You are only considered for an award
if you actually apply and have fully completed your
application and submitted all the required documents.
To apply for consideration for a Departmental Award,
please fill in THIS
form and
follow
the instructions.
Will you send my I-20 Via Courier?
